Fine C19th Italian gilded bronze 'Grand Tour' souvenir architectural model of a Cathedral dome or 'Tempietto'. Cast bronze model with fine architectural detail of the dome of a Cathedral or monument , mounted upon a block of Siena marble. Possibly conceived as a pastille burner, the lift-off lid with a removable frame-work inside.

Excellent attention to detail with arched apertures, finely detailed Corinthian-capped columns with incised block-work detail ,and a bell-tower /cupola surmount.

Although it has similarities to the dome of St.Paul's Cathedral in London , the Siena base and style of gilded /patinated bronze and casting , suggest Italian origin . It could be a true representation of a landmark dome or indeed an idealised model sold as a souvenir to 'Grand Tourists'.

In excellent original condition , with only minor rubbing and wear to the patination of the bronze commensurate with age and use.

Smart addition to a 'Grand Tour' collection of architectural models.
