This is a good quality antique English Victorian brown upholstered mahogany chaise longue, circa 1880, which would benefit from being re-upholstered. The chaise boasts (when facing) a left-hand raised sweeping carved arm. The moulded back frame sweeps down, finishing near the level of the stuff-over seat. The front of the chaise has a straight moulded frieze. The chaise is currently upholstered in brown floral silk upholstery, which would benefit from being re-upholstered, and therefore it would make an ideal upholstery project! The chaise stands on its original baluster shaped mahogany legs and boasts the original brass castors. The frame and legs are constructed of mahogany. The up-swept arms and backrest are solid in joint.

This chaise features a mellow brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. It is impossible to re-create this colour if it has been re-polished.

Condition Report:
The chaise longue frame is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no missing carvings to the frame. The chaise is being sold for re-upholstery; it would therefore benefit from being re-upholstered, as the existing upholstery is tired. The advertised price reflects the fact that it is being sold for-upholstery and its current condition. The four original mahogany legs stand firm on the floor and the chaise does not wobble. The brass cup castors are original. The chaise is solid in joint and is ready to use.
