The Vintage Interiors has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The bed is a very good example of Louis XV style.
The walnut panel has delicate carving of leaves.
The footboard also has a solid walnut frame with swept shaping to mirror the head board and carving to enhance it. It has three panels, the two outer ones have delicate carving of leaves to match the headboard, the centre one has an intricate carving of flowers and leaves. There is more carving below the centre panel.
The side rails have swept shaping with carving to the centre.
These have been extended to make it a kingsize length.
The bed stand on beautifully carved cabriole legs with escargot feet.
The bed comes with a newly fitted set of substantial bed slats.
The bed accommodates a standard kingsize mattress 2000 mm long x 1500 mm wide.
