The chaise boasts (when facing) a right-hand raised sweeping carved arm. The back frame, which is also carved, sweeps down finishing near the level of the seat.
The end of the chaise features a raised carved panel to hold the swab cushion in place. The suite has been freshly upholstered in top quality red machete upholstery, displaying a diamond pattern, finished with matching red braiding. This upholstery would have reflected the original style of upholstery used. The swab cushion retains the original horsehair filling. There is also a bolster cushion. The legs feature block panels above with an octagonal design. The chaise stands on its original brass cup castors. The frame and legs are constructed of oak. This is an unusual style in the fact that its design takes influence from the William IV and early Victorian period. It is most likely a transitional design across these two periods and is therefore quite rare in design.

This item features a rich dark oak colour. It has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

The polish finish to the oak frame is in excellent condition and there are no missing carvings. The four legs stand firm on the floor and the chaise does not wobble. The brass cup castors are original. The chaise is solid in joint and is ready to use.
