A Fine Large Impressive Bronze of a Farmworker

19th century
Description

For lovers of Poldark! A fine impressive French BRONZE FIGURE by C.H. Levy entitled: "Faneur" which depicts a farmworker resting momentarily on his scythe.

He wears a hat to keep off the sun, and knee-length breeches and he stands 17ins (43cms) high. Signed and titled on the base with bronze foundry mark. A most impressive and life-like bronze.

*Charles Octave LEVY (1820-1899) was born in Paris and exhibited there from 1873-1899. However much of his best sculpture was apparently sent direct to the United States without being displayed in the Paris Salons.
