Georgian Mahogany Sofa Chaise Longue

18th century
Description

Georgian mahogany sofa that could also be used as a hall bench or settle. Rare and attractive....better than most....lovely clean lines and attractive design of the front legs and arms. Very classy and elegant, dating from the early 19th Century. Includes new sumptuous feather seat cushion. The sofa has recently been reupholstered in a heavy weight upholstery fabric, with a natural, light cream/oatmeal colour. Very heavy and strong, with no loose joints.

As with all genuine antique furniture, you can expect to see some historic knocks, marks, wear, imperfections, cracks, scratches, repairs and/or alterations. Period dissimilar castors with some wear (as you would expect). This type of fabric contains the odd slub or fleck of cotton of a different colour picked up in the loom during manufacture. This is normal for all but the most expensive fabrics and not very noticeable except under close examination in bright lighting conditions. There are some historic extinct woodworm holes that have been treated for good measure.

Overall maximum dimensions: 182cm wide, 65cm deep, 84cm high (40cm high seat without cushion).

Please check dimensions before purchasing.

We can organise competitive UK and Worldwide courier delivery, please contact us for a quotation.

Item reference WNA-3852G69.

Archival Detail
Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
