Super Quality Georgian Mahogany Linen Press

18th century
Description

A superb quality George III linen press, with an exceptional rich colour and figuring to the wood.

c1800.

To the top is a detachable moulded cornice, having a crossbanded frieze below, over two doors, having panelled fronts, with the most wonderful very wide single planked panels of highly figured solid mahogany, showing great craftsmanship and quality.

The doors open to reveal the original five mahogany lined, linen sliding trays.

The base section has an arrangement of four cock-beaded, mahogany lined drawers, two short over two long, with turned knob handles. Each drawer and linen slide, maintains the original blue paper lining.

Standing on later turned bun feet.

All locks and escutcheons are present, with working lock and original key to the top section. Exceptional patina, having much warmth and glowing rich colour to the highly figured mahogany.

Dismantles to three sections.

The condition overall is excellent antique condition, with general expected signs of age and use.
