As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this large and fine quality Japanese bronze stag signed by the leading bronze animalier of the Meiji era "GENRYUSAI SEIYA", the most charming facial expressions of this majestic beast are captured in fine detail, he stands in such a lifelike pose as if just slightly startled yet at ease with his surroundings , he stands on his purpose made solid hardwood base which has aged and faded around the base of this substantial beast , we have had many elephants and cats of large proportions but never a stag of this size , although of great appeal to Japanese collectors we feel this charming stag will appeal to most collectors of fine quality bronzes, a rare delight.

The condition of the bronze is superb and totally original,the antlers simply slot in on heavy square metal pegs , the hardwood base is lovely and age worn as you would expect to see it, the seal signature is crisp and clear.
