Victorian Bird's Eye Maple Wardrobe

A wonderful, untouched Victorian, country made wardrobe in bird's eye maple and painted pine. The wardrobe has come straight out of the house it was most likely made more, it stands on turned feet with one long drawer with original mahogany knobs. The upper section has a large hanging space with double paneled doors and the pediment has an elegant swept cornice. The front of the wardrobe is made in beautifully figured solid bird's eye maple with all the panels having fine applied moulding. The sides of the wardrobe are in painted pine, to save on the expensive maple timber, this is typical of country made pieces. The whole has a wonderful warm colour, and patina, and is in untouched condition. The wardrobe has a few knocks and repairs due to wear and tear, and a few worm holes (treated) and is just a wonderful piece of history warts and all, and perfectly useable today. The wardrobe breaks down into flat pieces for easy moving. C.1860.
