Edwardian Inlaid Rosewood Ladies Settee (Circa 1901)

• Triple fretwork floral inlaid marquetry panels

• Crushed gold velvet upholstered seat

• Serpentine shaped seat

• Tapered lets & spade feet to the front

• Splayed legs to the rear (sign of good quality)

• Fantastic original patination & polish to the frame

This is a superb quality antique Edwardian rosewood marquetry inlaid serpentine settee, circa 1901. The settee features a satinwood inlay string to the whole of the frame. There is a shaped padded back to the settee. To the back of the settee there are three stunning floral and vase inlaid marquetry fretwork panels. The back is connected to shaped arms, which are also feature satinwood string inlay. The webbed serpentine shaped seat features crushed gold velvet upholstery, which is finished with gold braiding. To the front, the settee stands on tapered legs, which terminate on spade feet. Splayed feet (which is a good sign of quality), support the back of the settee.

This settee features a rich rosewood finish. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.

External Height = 87.3cm or 34?” or 2ft 10?”

External Width (feet) = 101cm or 39¾” or 3ft 3¾”

External Depth = 52cm or 20½” or 1ft 8½”

Seat Height = 40.5cm or 16” or 1ft 4”

Seat Width = 91.5cm or 36” or 3ft

Seat Depth (centre) = 45cm or 17¾” or 1ft 5¾”

Condition Report:

This settee is in excellent condition. The settee features later upholstery but the frame is in original condition. The settee boasts its original polish, which is rare to see; this is why it boasts a stunning deep rich colour. There is no missing marquetry or inlay to the frame. The upholstery is in excellent clean condition. Importantly, there are no breaks to the arms, back or legs; this is commons with these types of settees. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.
