Great Japanese Parcel Gilt Bronze Miyao Style Okimono

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this fine and heavy quality Japanese gilded bronze okimono , the intriguing character sits upon a drum shaped seat legs crossed ,carrying his tobacco sack in his left hand while resting his pipe in the other, his kimono and accessories are parcel gilded in great detail picking out everything from his sandals to his pipe, he has the most fascinating facial features and superb detail to his hair and top knot in particular, although apparently unsigned he is in the style of bronze okimonos by artists like Miyao and Gyoko , a great slice of everyday Japanese life as it was captured by the artist.

The condition is great with minor gilding wear and associated age marks.
