As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this magnificent quality large pair of Japanese bronze rats from the great Meiji period, the rats are captured in different poses , the first crouched with his front paws resting upon a patinated bronze chestnut and his long tail curled around his body, the partner stood on his hind legs again clasping a bronze chestnut this time his tail outstretched to assist his balance , as lifelike as if they were in the artists room , the finely chiseled hair detail is as good as it gets , patinated ears and dark blueish black eyes give these rodents all the detail you could imagine , both signed to the underside with a deep three character seal which we believe could read "HOJU CHU " although difficult to be precise, whoever the artist if you want a great pair of rats for your collection these would take some beating.

The condition is simply stunning having been cleaned and waxed ready for immediate delivery.
