Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has an unusual decorative arched cornice above two cupboard doors benefitting from a brass clash mould, figured panels, moulded edges and key with working lock. The interior has three sliding oak lined linen trays along with a single fixed shelf.
The lower section has a two over two drawer configuration, the drawers being oak lined, displaying cock beading along with lovely decorative brass lion head handles. This antique press stands on splayed bracket feet and can be split into three sections for ease of removal. It is a rich medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
