17th Century Jacobean Style Four Poster Tester Bed

An impressive 17th century style four poster tester bed with a panelled ceiling and probably dating to post 1940. The headboard with carved frieze, central coat of arms with motto ‘Felix Qui Prudens’ and with iron reading lamps also with coat of arms. The footboard carved with lozenges and seahorses and set between two large fluted and tapering footposts with large reeded cup and cover carvings to the base. The panelled ceiling bordered by a moulded plain frieze. With two Vono rails to the sides which will support a standard double mattress & base.

In good solid condition, there are vertical scratches to the polish all down the footposts and other more minor marks to around the feet and to the canopy. Rails for drapes would need to be added (we will leave what is there in place) and we will replace the missing candle tube from the light.
