This is an English, antique 19th century mahogany campaign bed, rather than being colonial.
At the top of the four corner posts are finials with a brass tip and spike, this allows the four, original wrought iron cross rails to be secured. The rails would also be used to drape mosquito nets from.
All in very original and complete condition with all the period iron threaded bolts.
A superb and rarely found, English antique campaign four poster double bed, now in Miles Griffiths antiques showrooms.
