Victorian Mahogany Three Door Fitted Wardrobe

19th century
Description

A handsome Victorian mahogany three door wardrobe dating to c.1860. Featuring floral carvings to the top of the door panels and decorative corbals beneath the overhanging cornice this wardrobe has been made with good quality timbers displaying a good deep colour and attractive grain.

The three doors open to reveal hanging space with a shoe box to the right whilst the left section is fully fitted with four sliding shelves and drawers. The right section has six original wooden hanging pegs and front to back rail has been added, furthermore the sliding trays to the left could be removed to create additional 106cm (41 3/4in) high hanging space for shirts. The inside depth of both sides is 47.5cm (18 3/4in). Unfortunately we do not have keys and the lock has been removed from the centre door but the doors can be fastened by catches to the top & bottom of the left door and a bottom catch to the outside of the right door.

In good solid condition, there is some veneer loss to bottom edge of centre door and the joins to the left side as shown in the photos and there are scuffs & scrapes to plinth from the doors opening but on the whole very good condition.

The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately

Width: 195.5cm (77in)

Depth: 66.5cm (26 1/4in)

Height: 205cm (80 3/4in)

For transportation and moving this wardrobe splits into seven sections (cornice, plinth, right hanging section, left top shelf section, left base drawer section, left door & centre door).

Dealers Notes

When buying it is important appreciate antiques have long histories of daily use and as such, over time they gain minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits, signs of old woodworm, lifts and losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We describe the main flaws and those that fall outside of this bracket but cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos. We do offer a 14 day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with your purchase but cannot refund the return shipping cost. If you are not sure please do not buy without clarifying or take the view that the only way to have it as near to new as possible is to have it fully and comprehensively restored.

For delivery we use a small carrier experience in carrying antique furniture. Delivery is usually within 31 days and the carrier will make arrangements with you directly. We can provide contact details of other carriers if required.

In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
