Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has an unusually shaped, tapered cornice above two beautifully figured cupboard doors with moulded edges and key with working lock. The interior of the press contains a total of five sliding linen trays. The lower section boasts a two over two graduating drawer configuration with original turned handles. The piece stands on turned bun feet and splits into two sections for ease of removal. The mahogany is a rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
