Arts & Crafts Pitch Pine Antique Victorian Triple Wardrobe

Dating from the Victorian period, circa 1880, this typical Arts & Crafts design triple wardrobe is made from pitch pine and still carries the label of cabinet maker "Alexander Mackenzie" on its original back boards. It has an unusual castellated cornice above three full length doors, the central one being mirrored. The two outer doors are beautifully figured and carry Arts & Crafts design detailing. It comes complete with the original brass handles and key with working lock. The interior of the right hand side has a hanging rail and deep lower drawer while the left hand side has a hanging rail, hooks, two sliding linen trays and two small drawers over two larger drawers. This ample wardrobe stands on a decorative moulded plinth and splits into four main sections for ease of removal. The cornice has been adapted at some point in its lifetime to fit a bespoke space but this adaption is to the rear and if being placed in an alcove would not be see. The pitch pine is a rich golden colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
