Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1900s.
Containing the original makers stamp of "J. Hunter & Co.
It has a moulded cornice above a deep frieze displaying elegant inlay decoration. This sits above a central door with the original oval bevelled mirror flanked by two cupboard doors. The two outer cupboard doors have the original brass handles while all three doors display a simple but elegant boxwood string inlay decoration. The interior of the smaller left hand section contains brass hooks and two mahogany lined drawers with the original brass handles while the larger right hand side contains a brass hanging rail and hooks. The base of the wardrobe has two deep drawers, with the original brass swan neck handles and boxwood string inlay decoration. The piece stands on a moulded plinth and splits into four sections for ease of removal. The mahogany is a rich medium shade with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
