Driscolls Antiques Ltd has dated this piece to the 1800s.
It has a moulded cornice above two delightfully figured flamed mahogany cupboard doors with key and working lock. The interior contains five sliding linen trays along with a later brass hanging rail so the piece can be used either as a wardrobe or for storing pressed linens! The lower section has a two over two graduating drawer configuration, all are mahogany lined and display cock beading along with the original turned handles, The press stands on turned bun feet and has aged to a rich medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
