This is a very good quality antique English Edwardian upholstered mahogany rail-back chaise longue, circa 1901 - 1910. The frame and turned legs are constructed of solid mahogany terminating in the original turned legs and ceramic mug castors. The frame features an attractive up-swept carved left hand arm with pretty floral carvings to the arm and reeded frame. The chaise has a straight front. The front fascia is mirrored in the back design. The frame is covered in a cream and floral cotton upholstery, which would benefit from being re-upholstered. The chaise also has the original bolster cushion. The chaise can seat up to 3 persons.

This chaise features a mellow brown mahogany colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination; this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. It is impossible to re-create this colour if it has been re-polished.

Dimensions:

External width: 162cm or 5ft 3¾”

Seat width: 141cm or 4ft 7½”
Seat depth: 60cm or 2ft
Condition Report:

The chaise longue frame is in good original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and frame but nothing significant considering the age of the item. There are no missing carvings to the frame. The chaise is being sold for re-upholstery; it would therefore benefit from being re-upholstered, as the existing upholstery is tired. The advertised price reflects the fact that it is being sold for-upholstery and it’s current condition. The four original mahogany legs stand firm on the floor and the chaise does not wobble. The ceramic mug castors are original. The chaise is solid in joint and is ready to use.
