Fine Quality Georgian Figured Mahogany Antique Linen Press.

This antique linen press is a fine example of quality Georgian furniture dating from around 1790, and is constructed from beautifully figured mahogany. It has a moulded cornice with dental moulding above beautifully figured panelled doors, having a key and working lock. The doors, once opened, reveal an interior containing four oak lined sliding linen trays. The lower section has two over two graduating oak lined drawers with period brass handles and the whole piece stands on ogee bracket feet. This quality linen press is definitely one for the antiques enthusiast, being full of charm and character of an early piece but with a very fine finish and oozing a sense of style. It splits into two sections aiding transportation and has aged to a lovely warm medium shade of mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
