Early 20th Century. Inscribed "Barye Fils" and E.L. Guillemin. This group was originally modelled by the artist and sculptor Emile Guillemin and cast at the foundry of Alfred Barye (1839 - 1882). Alfred was the son of the famous French animalier Antoine Louis Barye. He was an accomplished artist and sculptor in his own right. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1864 to 1882.
