Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art has dated this piece to the 1750s.
The chest still has the usual combination of drawers plus the benefit of a brushing slide , it has a blind fret frieze above its canted and reeded corners above which sits a dentil cornice surmounted by a broken arch pediment , the cornice slots on to a lipped edge around the top section but lifts off as intended for ease of movement , the drawers are all in nice order being dovetailed and hardwood lined and have been refitted with a superb set of antique brasses at some time in its life.
