Finest quality Paris made Salon suite, comprising of a large three seater Canape Sofa and a pair of Fauteuil Armchairs, all in the style of Louis XVI. The furniture is on wrythern fluted legs in opposing gold and white, terminating in a gilded acanthus flower, the frieses are painted white and framed with a running gilt ball moulding. The arms are carved with acanthus leaves rising up to meet the arched back and terminating in acanthus knops. The frames are in good completely untouched condition with a warm faded feel to the gilding and the paintwork. The Needlework upholstery is worked in wool and silk and features matching floral boquets to the chairs and a large floral panel across the length of the sofa. The sofa bears the remains of a Paris label indicating that the suite was made there, but the quality and the style of the pieces would also indicate this.
