Antique English Pewter 1 Pint Two Handled ‘Loving’ Cup, Makers Marks, Circa 1850

Description

Antique English pewter two handled ‘loving’ cup of 1 pint capacity. The cup stands on a flared foot with large strap handles, each with four heavily incised lines, the upper and lower terminals of the handle are of a ‘Y’ form.

There are clear maker’s marks to the rim; there are no capacity verification marks.

The condition is good, there are traces of a repair to the lower handle terminal, and the cup is a polished silver grey with traces of oxide.

Circa 1850.

Height: 5.25in (13.4cm).

Base diameter: 2.75in (7.2cm).

Top diameter: 4.25in (10.7cm).
