An Edwardian Down Filled Knole Sofa C1910

1900 - 1920
Description

An Edwardian down filled Knole sofa c 1910 attributed to Lenygon and Morant covered in the original pale green grey brocaded velvet upholstery both the cushions and arm sacks filled with down . The turned arm supports of walnut and with gilt brass side ratchets.

Lenygon and Morant were upholsterers and decorators by Royal Appointment from 1912 and in addition were the owners of Howard and Sons for part of the 20th century and many Howard Chairs bear the Lenygon and Morant retailers stamp or label. They specialised in the highest quality copies of grand 17th and 18th century upholstery for the newly rich of the Edwardian period.
