A superbly modelled bronze by the Swedish sculptor Jean Edouard Jahnson and dating to the 1880''s. The figure shows a Cavalier in dramatic pose with cloak thrown nonchalantly over shoulder, his sword at side and glove in hand and grasping a book. The detail in the modelling is superb his sumptuous clothing shown in all it''s finery.
The bronze is a nice colour but it has been polished at some point and is only now regaining a good dull shine, it also has the slightest loss in that the very end of his sword is missing.
