This early 20th century Jacobean Revival chest of drawers dates to 1920. Constructed from solid dark brown oak, the piece has a moulded top, panelled sides, and stands 78.5 cm high by 91.5 cm wide and 43 cm deep. It features three long horizontal drawers fitted with pairs of pressed metal drop handles on pierced backplates, plus a central keyhole escutcheon on the top drawer. Well suited for an English Country House interior style, this compact oak furniture item fits neatly into a bedroom or hallway for clothing and accessory storage. FAQs

Jacobean Revival furniture from the early 20th century typically features dark oak timber, geometric mouldings, and decorative turned elements such as barley twist legs and supports.

These pieces were constructed using solid oak timber, featuring hand-cut or early machine dovetail joinery for the drawers, solid wood back panels, and cast iron or brass hardware.

Look for signs of age such as natural oxidation of the timber, light wear around keyholes and handles, authentic drawer construction with dovetail joints, and crisp hand-finished turnings on the legs.

Position the piece against neutral or deeply painted walls to create contrast, layering the top surface with ceramic vessels, contemporary artwork, or modern lighting fixtures.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
