FAQs

Georgian pine sideboards are functional storage pieces produced during the 18th and early 19th centuries, characteristically featuring simple geometric proportions, turned wooden handles, and a balance of drawer and cupboard arrangements.

Constructed primarily from solid Scots pine or European pine, these pieces utilised traditional joinery techniques such as hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon frames, and solid wood drawer bottoms.

Authentic pieces display evidence of period craftsmanship, including hand-planed timber surfaces, hand-forged metal keyhole escutcheons, irregular dovetail joint spacing, and natural shrinkage across wood grain surfaces.

A Georgian pine sideboard functions as a focal storage unit in modern kitchens, dining rooms, or hallways, contrasting effectively against painted wall panelling, plaster finishes, and modern ceramics.

Maintenance requires regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodic application of clear beeswax polish to maintain moisture balance and protect the untreated timber.
