This king-size bedstead follows a French Louis XVI style and dates from the 1920 Art Deco period. Constructed from warm brown light mahogany, the piece shows a timber finish with natural grain variations. The design includes an arched headboard crest, recessed rectangular panels, tapered feet, and a carved floral wreath motif centered on the footboard. White pillows and a pink coverlet dress the bed frame, complementing the warm brown wood. Practical for daily use in a master bedroom or guest room, the frame provides a sleeping berth sized for a king mattress and standard base. It measures 152 cm in width, 218 cm in length, and 152 cm in height, offering a traditional focal point for interior spaces requiring period wooden furniture.

FAQs

French Louis XVI style mahogany beds are characterised by neoclassical symmetry, straight lines, geometric paneling, and refined carved motifs such as laurel wreaths, floral garlands, and fluted posts.

Traditional antique mahogany beds were constructed using solid mahogany or rich mahogany veneers over hardwood framing, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery alongside hand-carved decorative elements.

Authenticity can be determined by examining hand-carved detailing, original cast iron or steel side rail fixings, natural oxidation on the timber undersides, and traditional cabinet-making marks.

A classic mahogany bed frame can be styled by pairing the dark wood tones with crisp white linen bedding, textured neutral soft furnishings, and contemporary muted wall paint colours.

Maintain mahogany timber by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight and proximity to heat sources.
