Antique Ash Chest of Drawers | Two Over Three

1900 - 1920
For Sale by ActFurniture LTD
Description

Antique 20th century good quality chest of drawers in ash, a beautifully proportioned and practical piece with plenty of natural character.

The front is arranged with three large drawers and two smaller drawers above, providing a generous amount of storage for clothing and everyday essentials. Decorative brass handles feature across all five drawers, adding an attractive traditional detail against the lighter tones of the ash.

A raised gallery to the top gives the chest a more distinctive profile and provides a lovely finishing touch to the design.

Gorgeous natural grain and warm colour can be admired throughout the ash, giving the piece a wonderfully fresh and inviting appearance.

Presented in good condition and nicely made, this characterful chest balances generous storage with an attractive simplicity that allows the beauty of the ash to really stand out.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

A two-over-three chest of drawers is defined by its standard storage layout featuring two smaller side-by-side drawers at the top positioned over three full-width drawers below.

Antique ash furniture typically features solid ash timber, often paired with pine or oak drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joints, and metal drop handles.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display hand-sawn markings on interior drawer backs, hand-cut dovetails with slight irregularities, and natural wear around the drawer runners and handles.

An ash chest of drawers can serve as a focal storage piece in a hallway or bedroom, styled with simple ceramics, a neutral table lamp, or framed artwork to complement the timber tone.

Ash furniture should be positioned away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement, and cleaned using a soft dry cloth followed by periodic applications of beeswax polish.
