Art Deco Odeon, Skyscraper Brass Double Bed, C1930

1920 - 1940
For Sale by Art Deco World
Description

For your consideration is this quite rare and super stylish 1930's English brass double bed. Fantastic iconic odeon accents mirrored to the headboard and footboard which we know those who appreciate Iconic Deco styling will love. Standard double size so ideal for modern use and easily integrates with both modern and period home settings. The condition is very good, the brass does show very minor signs of age to lower parts but we're being picky, it's still bright and clean with no tarnishing or pitting. We've given the bed an extensive polish in our workshops so it looks fantastic. It has its original sprung base which has been refurnished so ready to use. This bed is fresh to market from a private collector of Art Deco, its been lovingly care for and ready for its next chapter. We think it would look great with either a sophisticated cream or off white or a deep blue to really make it pop.

All you need is your mattress and you're ready to go!

OFFERED with FREE two man UK mainland delivery.

This Art Deco double bed dates from 1930 and is made from brass and steel with a bright gold finish. The design incorporates stepped skyscraper central accents on both the headboard and footboard, complemented by reeded tubing, scroll embellishments, and round castor feet. The construction features an original sprung base that has been refurnished, alongside exposed metal framing throughout the structure. Minor signs of age are visible on the lower parts of the brass. The bed measures 108 cm high, 135 cm wide, and 196 cm deep. Suitably sized for modern use, the piece is designed for placement in a bedroom setting. It integrates into both period and contemporary interior schemes, functioning as a primary sleeping furniture item that requires a standard double mattress. The metallic finish and geometric motifs provide a decorative focal point for interior styling.

FAQs

Art Deco bed frames from the 1930s are characterised by geometric shapes, streamlined forms, symmetrical patterns, and architectural influences such as stepped skyscraper profiles and sweeping scroll motifs.

These bedsteads were primarily constructed using tubular polished brass, chromed steel, or nickel-plated iron, often incorporating woven wire mesh bases and cast metal joinery.

Authentic pieces feature period-correct joinery, aged patination on metal surfaces, original spring wire bases, reeded or fluted metal tubing, and design elements typical of 1920s and 1930s Odeon architecture.

A brass bed frame can serve as a focal point when set against bold dark paint tones or subtle modern neutral walls, paired with clean-lined linens and warm accent lighting to complement the metallic sheen.

Maintain brass beds by dusting regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and applying non-abrasive metal cleaners only when necessary, avoiding harsh chemicals that might remove original lacquers or patination.
