An early 19th Century portrait miniature of a young lady by Frederick Buck. Buck was born in Cork and a pupil of the Dublin Society Schools. During the Peninsular War when Cork was a busy port of embarkation, his services were in great demand to paint portraits of officers. Examples of his work are in the Victoria & Albert Museum. There is some information regarding Frederick Buck on the reverse of the miniature. It is painted on ivory and the Ivory Reg. for it is: DKN3K5FG. It measures 2.5ins high.
