This nineteenth-century Georgian New Hall teacup and saucer set is formed from white porcelain finished with a glossy glaze, hand-painted enamel floral motifs, moulded basketweave texture, and gilded rims. The cup includes an angular loop handle, a pedestal foot, and a single tiny graze to the base, while the saucer features an internal circular floral medallion and three surrounding pink rose sprays. Both pieces display vibrant green leaves alongside orange, pink, yellow, and blue flowers. Measuring 6 cm high, 10 cm wide, and 8 cm deep, with a saucer diameter of 14.5 cm, the set fits well on a sideboard top in an English country house setting today for display or occasional afternoon tea use.

Georgian porcelain tea ware refers to ceramics manufactured in Britain during the reigns of King George I through King George IV (17141830). These pieces are characterised by hand-painted botanical sprigs, delicate gilding, and early hybrid paste compositions produced by prominent regional factories.

18th-century English tea sets were crafted from hard-paste, soft-paste, or bone porcelain using kaolin, china stone, or bone ash. Surfaces were decorated with hand-applied enamel pigments and finished with mercury gilding along the rims and borders.

Authentic New Hall porcelain often features lightweight hybrid hard-paste translucent bodies, distinctive pattern numbers painted on the base, and fine hand-painted floral sprays. Moulded relief patterns, such as basketweave borders, were also frequently used.

Antique teacups and saucers can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, on open kitchen shelving, or arranged along a sideboard top. Mixing historical ceramics with contemporary glassware creates an engaging contrast in modern dining spaces.

Wash porcelain gently by hand using lukewarm water and a mild detergent, avoiding abrasive sponges that could scratch the enamel or gilt rim. Never place antique porcelain in a dishwasher or microwave, as harsh heat and detergents cause gilding loss.
