Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

This Swedish Grace sideboard originates from Sweden around 1930 and follows an Art Deco glamour design style. Constructed from birch, flame birch, and satinwood with a warm amber colour, the surface displays chevron parquetry veneer on the curved cupboard doors. The piece stands upon tapered fluted feet and includes brass escutcheons on the cabinet doors, alongside open central shelving divided by a horizontal shelf. Items stored inside or displayed on the open shelves include a small ceramic sculpture and a cluster of blue-bound books, while a large amber glass sculptural object sits on the top surface. The construction incorporates clean geometric lines with rounded cabinet ends, presenting a streamlined profile. The sideboard measures 71 cm high, 170 cm wide, and 30 cm deep. Placed in a contemporary home today, this long, low storage cabinet functions well in a dining room, living room, or hallway to provide surface display space and concealed storage for tableware, books, or decorative objects. The warm timber tones and refined parquetry integrate smoothly into both mid-century modern and minimalist interior schemes.

FAQs

Swedish Grace refers to a brief yet impactful design movement spanning the 1920s in Sweden, bridging Nordic Classicism with early Art Deco. It is defined by elegant proportions, restrained geometry, high-grade wood veneers, and subtle classical motifs.

Craftsmen typically utilised native Scandinavian light woods such as birch, flame birch, and satinwood, often accentuating surfaces with intricate parquetry or marquetry veneers. Internal framing frequently incorporated pine or oak, accompanied by brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature precise geometric veneering, such as chevron or diamond patterns, along with finely turned or tapered feet. Construction elements like hand-dovetailed drawer joints and maker stamps from Swedish workshops further verify origin.

The clean lines and light timber tones complement contemporary, minimalist, and eclectic interiors seamlessly. Positioning the piece against a neutral wall allows the detailed grain work and elegant silhouette to function as an architectural focal point.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and avoid placing timber directly beside heat sources or in intense sunlight. Apply a high-quality beeswax paste periodically along the grain to preserve the woods lustre and moisture.
