ANTIQUE CHINESE BRONZE DRAGON TEAPOT / EWER

LATE QING / EARLY REPUBLIC PERIOD, c.1900

An unusual small Chinese cast bronze teapot or ewer, probably dating from the late Qing to early Republic period.

The rounded body is decorated in relief with stylised Chinese characters and scrolling cloud motifs.

The most distinctive feature is the dramatic dragon-form design, with a finely modelled dragon head forming the spout and an arched scaled dragon forming the handle, terminating in a further dragon head at the shoulder.

The vessel retains its removable domed cover, decorated with further auspicious motifs and topped by a rounded finial.

The underside bears a cast square seal mark, now worn and difficult to decipher.

Condition:

Good antique condition overall with age-related surface wear, dark patination, oxidation, rubbing and casting irregularities. Some green oxidation visible in places. The foot/base shows wear and slight irregularity. Removable lid present.
