Antique Pine Flip-over Chapel Pew Bench

Description

An antique pine flip-over pew bench, of practical and unusual form. Constructed in pine, the bench has a broad two-plank seat and simple open back, with the backrest designed to tilt over so that the bench can be used comfortably from either side. The pine has a pleasing warm colour with attractive natural grain throughout. Raised on sturdy shaped supports with broad feet, this is a useful and versatile piece which would work well in a hallway, boot room, garden room or kitchen.

CONDITION REPORT:

In good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. The pine has a lovely warm tone with good natural grain and aged character throughout. There are various minor marks, scratches and areas of wear consistent with age and previous use. The flip-over backrest operates correctly, allowing the bench to be used from either side. The bench remains solid, stable and structurally sound. Overall, a useful and unusual example with pleasing colour and proportions.
