Antique Flip Over Chapel Bench

Description

An antique flip-over chapel bench, constructed from solid timber with a warm, natural finish. The bench features a broad plank seat, a simple open back with shaped horizontal rails and substantial end supports. The distinctive angled backrest can be repositioned to allow seating from either side, making this a practical and characterful piece of traditional furniture. Raised on shaped supports with splayed feet, a lovely example.

CONDITION REPORT:

The bench is in good, sturdy condition, displaying surface wear and marks consistent with age and use. The timber retains an attractive natural grain and warm brown colour, with variations in tone and patina throughout. The seat displays general surface scratches, scuffs and minor marks, while the backrest and supporting framework show further age-related wear, including small knocks and abrasions to the edges. The flip-over backrest mechanism works smoothly. Overall, the bench presents well, retaining a pleasing rustic character.

As with all our furniture, this piece has been inspected by our experienced carpenter, with any necessary repairs and restoration carried out to ensure it is ready for use. Please review all accompanying photographs carefully, as these form an integral part of the condition report.
