Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A George II low dresser typically dates from the mid-18th century (17271760) and features proportions designed for domestic utility. Key styling elements include cabriole legs, a frieze containing drawers, and simple geometric silhouettes crafted from native hardwoods.

Regional cabinetmakers predominantly utilised native timbers such as elm, oak, and fruitwood. Primary construction often incorporated hand-cut dovetail joints, solid oak drawer linings, and cast brass drop handles or batwing escutcheons.

Authentic period pieces display hand-sawn timber marks, uneven hand-planed backs, and pegged joinery. Look for age-appropriate wear around the drawer runners, original brassware shadow marks, and natural patination built up over centuries.

Low dressers function as versatile surface pieces in entryways, dining spaces, or behind floating seating arrangements. Their natural wood tones balance contemporary minimalist decor, providing functional storage alongside textural interest.

Maintain elm furniture by applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year, buffing along the direction of the grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and maintain stable room humidity to prevent timber movement or shrinkage.
