Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Scottish Regency sideboards are characterized by architectural proportions, raised stage-back galleries, and pedestal configurations designed for dining room service. Originating in the early 19th century, these pieces frequently incorporate flame mahogany veneers, turned or reeded legs, and integrated cutlery storage.

Primary construction typically utilised solid mahogany and high-grade flame mahogany veneers laid over deal or pine substrates. Interior drawer linings often feature oak or pine with hand-cut dovetail joints, accompanied by brass castors, locks, and handles.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and natural shrinkage across wood panels over time. Original brass locks, period-correct drawer runners showing natural wear, and rich patina from historical wax polishes further indicate authenticity.

A large mahogany sideboard functions as a anchor piece along a primary dining room or hallway wall. Positioning large-scale modern artwork or a simple wall mirror above balances the heavy visual weight, while neutral wall paint colours highlight the deep wood tones.

Flame mahogany surfaces require regular dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and periodic application of high-quality beeswax polish along the grain. Keep the furniture clear of direct heat sources, radiators, and strong sunlight to prevent veneer splitting and sun bleaching.
