This famous and striking fine quality print was published on 2nd March 1863 by E Gumbart & Co of 120 Pall Mall, London who was a prominent 19th-Century fine art publishing, print-selling, and dealership firm run by the influential Belgian-born art impresario Ernest Gumbart (1814–1902)

The Derby Day is a large oil painting showing a panoramic view of Epsom Derby, painted by the English artist William Powell Frith over 15 months from 1856 to 1858. It has been described by Christie's as Frith's "undisputed masterpiece" and also "arguably the definitive example of Victorian modern-life genre." Currently exhibited at the Tate Royal in London.

Good condition in a quality frame, it does have an old fold visible when looking close up, when on the wall this is barely visible.

Because of the subject (i.e. Derby Day) and crowds, it creates a tremendous amount of interest because of the number of figures in the print.

Great value at this price, this is not a modern copy.

William Powell Frith completed the original painting of The Derby Day in 1858, depicting the diverse social classes gathered at Epsom Downs.
