Marlborough Antiques & Interiors has dated this Flame Mahogany Antique Sideboard to the 19th Century.
The raised galleried back has shaped ends and a central raised panel, sitting above a substantial top with a moulded edge. The façade is arranged with two frieze drawers above two generous cupboards, each cupboard fitted internally with a useful shelf.

Of particular note is the wonderful figuring of the mahogany to the cupboard and drawer fronts, retaining a rich, warm colour and pleasing depth of patina. The drawers and cupboards retain their attractive brass oval handles with classical urn decoration, together with key escutcheons.

The architectural quality of the piece is enhanced by the reeded and panelled divisions to the front, while the whole is raised upon particularly striking carved and reeded legs terminating in lion’s paw feet.

A highly decorative yet extremely practical piece of 19th century furniture, equally suitable for use as a dining-room sideboard, serving buffet or substantial hall piece. Its relatively shallow depth makes it especially useful in today’s interiors.
A protective glass top accompanies the sideboard and may be used if required.
