C. 1800, Tempera and Gold Leaf on Canvas, Four Field (Quadripartite) Religious Icon (Russian).

Gilt framed, tempera and gold leaf, Russian orthodox religious icon. In the upper part, St. Nicholas of Myra and the Coronation of Mary, in the lower part four, Saints of the Orthodox Church.

Bearing a historic Sotheby's auction code on the rear '297MB', and a historic 'James Stenhouse' framers and art restoration label, a company that operated in the UK in the late 19th to early 20th century.

CONDITION:

Traces of historic repairs to canvas. Excellent patina overall.

PROVENANCE:

Purchased from the Estate of a Gentleman in Stuttgart, Germany.
