Elgin Full Hunter Pocket Watch, 1915

1900 - 1920
Description

Elgin full hunter pocket watch, 1915.

The watch has a seven jewel stem-winding movement, grade 292, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 18,215,560 which dates it back to 1915. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a few short scratches.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and it is in nice condition, just light surface marks but nothing too serious.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

The signed dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A full hunter pocket watch features a protective metal cover that fully encloses the dial and glass, which opens via a spring mechanism triggered by pressing the crown button.

Pocket watches from this era were typically constructed with gold, silver, gold-filled, or rolled gold cases, housing vitreous enamel dials, blued steel hands, and glass crystals.

Authentic Elgin pocket watches feature serial numbers stamped directly onto the movement inside the case, which can be cross-referenced with production records to determine the exact year of manufacture.

An antique pocket watch can be displayed on a specialised brass watch stand inside a glass dome or placed on a desk tray alongside leather-bound accessories.

Mechanical pocket watches require routine servicing every three to five years by a professional horologist to clean internal movements, apply fresh lubrication, and ensure accurate timekeeping.
