An elegant antique Worcester porcelain coffee cup and saucer dating to the Flight, Barr & Barr period of the early 19th century. The cup and matching saucer are decorated in the celebrated Dragon in Compartments pattern, featuring a sinuous oriental dragon alternating with reserves of precious objects and floral motifs within richly gilded panels.
The vivid famille-verte palette of iron-red, emerald green, cobalt blue, soft yellow and purple is enhanced with finely tooled gilt rims. The pattern, inspired by Chinese Kangxi prototypes, became one of Worcester''s most admired decorative schemes by the Regency period. Comparable examples appear within the historic Flight Collection.
