Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late 18th century, particularly in Scotland, stage-back sideboards feature a raised stepped section along the rear top edge. This upper tier provided additional serving space and frequently housed sliding secret compartments or dedicated cutlery storage above the main drawers.

Craftsmen primarily utilised dense mahogany, highlighted with boxwood or satinwood stringing and geometric wood inlays. Solid brass hardware, such as lion mask pulls or drop ring handles, was standard for drawer and cupboard fittings.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods, and hand-planed drawer bases. The mahogany often exhibits a rich natural patina from historic wax polishing alongside original brass hardware fixing marks.

Position large statement ceramics or silver serving pieces on the main surface while keeping the upper stage back pared back with framed artwork resting against the wall. It functions as a substantial focal anchor along a main dining room wall.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish once or twice a year following the natural grain. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent wood shrinkage and surface colour fading.
