This Edwardian Black Forest style wall barometer is made from warm brown carved wood with a circular brass-rimmed glass weather dial set into the centre. The body exhibits crisp hand-carved decoration featuring deep relief floral motifs, acanthus leaves along the sides, a prominent carved rose at the top crest, and a ribbon scroll motif with an openwork flourish at the base. Visible details include the interior aneroid mechanism visible through the glass face and the legible red weather indicators around the dial edge including stormy, rain, change, fair, and very dry. The piece measures 33 cm high, 28 cm wide, and 6 cm deep.
