Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century French ecclesiastical wood carving is defined by devotional subject matter, realistic anatomical proportions, and detailed drapery, often inspired by Gothic and Renaissance religious traditions.

These figures were typically hand-carved from dense hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or lime using gouges and chisels, and were finished with polychrome paint, gilding, or natural wax polish.

Authentic period pieces show evidence of hand-tool markings, natural timber shrinkage along the grain, light oxidisation, and uneven wear patterns around high-contact areas.

Large sculptures are often placed in focal architectural positions, such as stairwells, deep alcoves, or grand entryways, set against minimalist backgrounds to highlight their sculptural silhouette.

Preservation requires a stable relative humidity to prevent wood splitting, gentle dusting with a soft dry brush, and keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight.
