Fine Quality French Louis Xv Style Giltwood Canapé

Description

An elegant and finely carved French Louis XV style giltwood canapé of serpentine form, raised on graceful cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. The richly moulded giltwood frame is exceptionally decorative throughout, featuring flowing rococo carving with acanthus scrolls, shell motifs and pierced detail to the apron and cresting.

The shaped back and arms are inset with finely woven cane panels, giving the piece a wonderfully light and refined appearance, while the upholstered crest panels and seat retain their original decorative fringed fabric in soft neutral tones. The sweeping outline and generous proportions make this an especially attractive and usable salon sofa or window seat.
